Every Person
O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah and give up what remains (due to you) of Riba (usury- from now onwards), if you are (really) believers. And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allah and His Messenger but if you repent, you shall have your capital sums. Deal not unjustly (by asking more than your capital sums), and you shall not be dealt with unjustly. And if the debtor is in a hard time (has no money), then grant him time till it is easy for him to repay; but if you remit by way of charity, that is better for you if you did but know. And be afraid of the Day when you shall be brought back to Allah. Then every person shall be paid what he earned, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly.
Surah 2 Al-Baqarah Verses 278-281
Say (O Muhammad, pbuh): “Whether you hide what is in your breasts or reveal it, Allah knows it, and He knows what is in the heavens and what is in the earth. And Allah is Able to do all things”. On the Day when every person will be confronted with all the good he has done, and all the evil he has done, he will wish that there was a great distance between him and his evil. And Allah warns you against Himself (His punishment) and Allah is full of kindness to His slaves.
Surah 3 Al-Imran Verses 29-30
It is not for any Prophet to take illegally a part of the booty (Ghulul), and whosoever deceives his companions as regards the booty, he shall bring forth on the Day of Resurrection that which he took (illegally). Then every person shall be paid in full what he has earned, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly.
Surah 3 Al-Imran Verse 161
And the Day whereon We shall gather them all together, then We shall say to those who did set partners in worship with Us: “Stop at your place! You and your partners (whom you had worshipped in the worldly life)”. Then We shall separate them, and their (Allah’s so-called) partners shall say: “It was not us that you used to worship. So sufficient is Allah as a witness between us and you that we indeed knew nothing of your worship of us”. There! Every person will know (exactly) what he had earned before and they will be brought back to Allah, their rightful Maula (Lord), and their invented false deities will vanish from them.
Surah 10 Yunus Verses 28-30
And they ask you (O Muhammad, pbuh) to inform them (saying): Is it true (i.e., the torment and the establishment of the Hour – the Day of Resurrection)?” Say: “Yes! By my Lord! It is the very truth! And you cannot escape it!” And if every person who had wronged (by disbelieving in Allah and by worshipping others besides Allah) possessed all that is on earth and sought to ransom himself therewith (it will not be accepted), and they would feel in their hearts regret when they see the torment, and they will be judged with justice, and no wrong will be done to them.
Surah 10 Yunus Verses 53-54
Is then He (Allah) Who takes charge (guards, maintains, provides) of every person and knows all that he has earned (like any other deity who knows nothing)? Yet, they ascribe partners to Allah. Say: “Name them! Is it that you will inform Him of something He knows not in the earth or is it (just) a show of false words”. Nay! To those who disbelieved, their plotting is made fair-seeming, and they have been hindered from the Right Path; and whom Allah sends astray, for him there is no guide. For them is a torment in the life of this world, and certainly, harder is the torment of the Hereafter. And they have no Waq (defender or protector) against Allah.
Surah 13 Ar-Rad Verses 33-34
See they not that We gradually reduce the land (of the disbelievers, in war victories) from its outlying borders. And Allah judges, there is none to put back His Judgement and He is Swift at reckoning. And verily, those before them did devise plots, but all planning is Allah’s. He knows what every person earns, and the disbelievers will know who gets the good end (final destination).
Surah 13 Ar-Rad Verses 41-42
(Remember) the Day when every person will come up pleading for himself, and everyone will be paid in full for what he did (good or evil, belief or disbelief in the life of this world) and they will not be dealt with unjustly.
Surah 16 An-Nahl Verse 111
[Allah says to Musa (Moses):] “Verily, I am Allah! La ilaha illa Ana (none has the right to be worshipped but I), so worship Me, and perform As-Salat (the prayers) for My remembrance. Verily, the Hour is coming – and I am almost hiding it – that every person may be rewarded for that which he strives. Therefore, let not the one who disbelieves therein (i.e., in the Day of Resurrection), but follows his own lusts, divert you therefrom, lest you perish”.
Surah 20 Ta-Ha Verses 14-16
And if you could only see when the Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers) shall hang their heads before their Lord (saying): “Our Lord! We have now seen and heard, so send us back (to the world) that we will do righteous good deeds. Verily, we now believe with certainty”. And if We had willed, surely, We would have given every person his guidance, but the Word from Me took effect (about evildoers), that I will fill Hell with jinn and mankind all together. Then taste you (the torment of the Fire) because of your forgetting the Meeting of this Day of yours. Surely, We too will forget you, so taste you the abiding torment for what you used to do.
Surah 32 As-Sajdah Verses 12-14
- These words are indicative of an important fact. Man’s test lies in showing whether he accepts reality even though he cannot perceive it directly through his senses; and whether, after having accepted it, he has the required moral stamina to obey Allah even though he is endowed with the capacity to disobey Him. In sending the Prophets, in revealing the Scriptures, indeed, even in performing miracles, Allah has always taken care to leave scope for testing man’s power of judgement and his moral stamina. He has never disclosed reality to such a degree that man would be inevitably compelled to accept it. For if that were done, nothing would remain to be tested and the very idea of man’s success or failure would be meaningless. For, if the Truth were to be fully disclosed and if men were to see with their own eyes Allah on His Throne of Majesty with the entire universe acting according to His command, what would be the worth of their faith and obedience? If all these things were physically observable not even the most stubborn unbelievers and the worst sinners would dare either to disbelieve or disobey. Acceptance of faith and obedience has value only as long as there remains a veil over reality. The moment reality is totally unveiled would mark the end of the period granted to man to decide, and of the testing period for him. It would, in fact, be the Day of Judgement.
The Day when they will (all) come out, nothing of them will be hidden from Allah. Whose is the kingdom this Day? It is Allah’s – the One, the Irresistible! This Day shall every person be recompensed for what he earned. This Day no injustice (shall be done to anybody). Truly, Allah is Swift in reckoning.
Surah 40 Ghafir Verses 16-17
(Remember) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions). Not a word does he (or she) utter but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it). And the stupor of death will come in truth: “This is what you have been avoiding!” And the Trumpet will be blown – that will be the Day (of Resurrection) whereof warning (had been given). And every person will come forth along with an (angel) to drive (him) and an (angel) to bear witness.
Surah 50 Qaf Verses 17-21
Verily, the Muttaqun (the pious) will be in Gardens (Paradise) and Delight. Enjoying that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. “Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do”. They will recline on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Hur (fair females) with wide lovely eyes. And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith – to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for what he has earned.
Surah 52 At-Tur Verses 17-21
- Here, the metaphor of rahn (pledge) is very meaningful. If a person takes a loan from somebody, and the creditor keeps some article belonging to the debtor as a pledge with himself as a guarantee for the payment of his right, the debtor cannot redeem his pledge unless he pays off the debts; and if he does not redeem his pledge within the fixed time limit, the pledged article stands forfeited. The nature of the affair between man and Allah has been compared here to this very situation. The provisions, powers, capabilities and authority that Allah has granted man in the world are a debt that the Master has given to His servant, and as a guarantee for this debt the self of man is a pledge with Allah. If man by employing the provisions and the powers and authority in the right way earns the good by which the debt can be paid off, he will redeem the pledged thing, i.e., his own self, otherwise it will be forfeited. This thing has been said immediately after the preceding verse because even though the righteous believers may themselves be the people of a very high rank, their children cannot redeem their pledge unless they redeem their self by their own labour and effort. The earning of the forefathers cannot redeem the children. However, if the children are able to redeem themselves by virtue of their faith in some degree by following their righteous forefathers in their footsteps, it would then be Allah’s grace and bounty that in Paradise He may exalt them from lower ranks to be joined with their parents in the higher ranks. The good done by the forefathers can benefit the children only so far, but if by their own deeds they deserve Hell, it is not possible that they may be admitted to Paradise for the sake of the forefathers. Another thing that can be deduced from this verse is that the less righteous children’s being joined with their more righteous forefathers is not in reality the result of the lifework of the children but of their forefathers’. They by virtue of their deeds will deserve the grace that their children be joined with them in order to be a comfort of the eyes for them. That is why Allah will not lower their ranks to join them with their children but will exalt the children’s ranks to be joined with them, so that the perfection of Allah’s blessings on them is not marred by the distress that they may suffer on account of the remoteness of their children far away.
O you who believe! Fear Allah and keep your duty to Him. And let every person look to what he has sent forth for tomorrow, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do. And be not like those who forgot Allah (i.e., became disobedient to Allah), and He caused them to forget their own selves (let them to forget to do righteous deeds). Those are the Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).
Surah 59 Al-Hashr Verses 18-19
Verily, it (Hell or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest (signs). A warning to mankind – To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by committing sins). Every person is a pledge for what he has earned; Except those on the Right (i.e., the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism).
Surah 74 Al-Muddaththir Verses 35-39
When the sun shall be wound round and its light is lost and overthrown. And when the stars shall fall. And when the mountains shall be made to pass away; And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together. And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire (or shall overflow). And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies. And when the female (infant) buried alive shall be questioned: For what sin was she killed? And when the pages (of deeds) shall be laid open. And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; And when Hell-Fire shall be set ablaze. And when Paradise shall be brought near. (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil).
Surah 81 At-Takwir Verses 1-14

- Vanishing of invented false deities
- Ransom shall not be accepted for the wrongs committed in the world (though one may possess all that is on Earth)
- Feeling of regret in one’s heart (on seeing the Torment)
- Pleading for oneself (on the Day of Judgement)

Allah (in this life)
- Takes charge (guards, maintains, provides) of every person and knows all that he has earned
- Knows what every person earns
- Would have given every person his guidance (but His word took effect about evildoers – who forgot the meeting of the Hereafter)
